Filming & Editing Gear
This is the equipment I use in the course of filming and producing my content. I mostly use a GoPro for first-person footage, and a combination of my phone and a mirrorless vlogging camera for the b-roll and talking shots.
Hopefully this list of gear helps you with the recording of your own adventures.

GoPro Hero 10 - I have two of these. One is generally rigged up with the Media Mod and my wireless microphone receiver, the other is in a diving case for underwater filming.
GoPro 9/10/11 Media Mod - I use this on one of my GoPro 10's along with my wireless microphone and neck strap mount to produce the vast majority of my first-person metal detecting content. The media is what allows me to connect a good quality microphone and significantly reduce wind noise.
RODE Wireless Go II microphones - absolute game changers!! I can mount these to my GoPro or camera for beautifully crisp, wireless audio that I can easily protect from the wind by clipping them close to my body and also using the included fluffy wind protector caps (known as 'dead cats'). Just remember to turn them on before starting your adventure, check your device is picking them up and then you're golden.
Magnetic Silicone Neck Strap Mount Kit - this is how I film my first-person detecting footage, as it is a completely hands-free solution that is comfortable to wear, but can also be easily monitored while filming. I find it much more comfortable than the chest mount harness, which isn't ideal for a female body shape.
GoPro Enduro Batteries x2 - Trust me, you'll need more than one battery for your GoPro. The Enduro batteries perform better in cold conditions (important for me!) and I've found that they last a little longer as well.
SanDisk Extreme MicroSD Card - used in my GoPros. The cards you choose for your camera need to have a sufficient read/write speed for the footage you're filming otherwise your footage will have tears and stutters, these can keep up with filming in 4K on my devices.
Triple Battery Charger for GoPro 9/10/11 - this little case has been super convenient for me, I take it when I'm travelling so that I can charge three batteries at once from one USB port.
PolarPro ND Filters for GoPro Hero 9/10 - while intended for low shutter speed filming, these are also super handy for reducing glare from the sun and sky when filming on a sunny day with a GoPro.
Sony ZV-1 II Vlogging Camera - I have the original ZV-1, which has now been superceded by this ZV-1 Mark II. It's a brilliant vlogging camera, but important to note that it is not waterproof, I generally use it on dry land adventures only. It has some excellent features including background defocus, face tracking and a built-in ND filter. If you've ever thought one of my videos looked particularly crisp - it was probably this camera at work!
SmallRig grip for Sony ZV-1 camera - makes the camera a little easier to hold, I also connect my tripod mounting accessories to this frame and it has an extra cold shoe mount that could be used for a light or mic.
SanDisk Extreme SD card - for my Sony ZV-1 camera. As per the GoPro memory cards, make sure you get a good enough quality card so that it can read and write at a fast enough speed for your footage. This card supports 4K filming on my camera.
RODE VideoMic GO II - I use this 'shotgun' style mic on my Sony ZV-1 camera. Good if you're always facing in front of the camera and don't want to clip a mic to yourself, however the small wireless mics above will work much better in a windy scenario.
Joby GorillaPod 3K Pro Kit - the tripod I use for my Sony camera. Flexible, so you can stand it up on uneven surfaces and keep your camera out of the dust and dirt, but also for really good shots angled down towards a dig site.
DJI Air 2S Drone - if you ever see drone footage in my videos, this is what it was captured on. A great mid-size drone for both recreational and professional use.
iPhone 12 - some of my scenic footage is actually captured on this phone, and it looks great! Make sure you change the camera settings so that it films in 60fps (if you want to be able to slow it down) and you can also record in 4K quality if you choose.
