<image:title>Gear I Use - Beach Metal Detecting Gear</image:title>
<image:caption>Nokta Legend (AUS Stock) - The Legend is my primary beach metal detecting machine, due to it’s rugged design and robust waterproofing to a submersion depth of 3M/10ft. The “Pro-Pack” edition of this metal detector includes both an 11″ and 6″ coil, making it a very versatile unit which is also excellent value for money compared to equivalent machines on the market.</image:caption>

<image:title>Gear I Use - Beach Metal Detecting Gear</image:title>
<image:caption>XP Deus II (AUS Stock) - The Deus II is my preferred machine for land hunting and long-duration hunts due to it’s incredibly light and comfortable design, but I do also use it for beach and underwater metal detecting. It comes with either a 9″ or 11″ coil – I personally use the 9″ for easier manoeuvrability in bushland, lighter weight, and also for easier target separation on trashy sites. It is waterproof to a depth of 20M/60ft (antenna and dive plug must be fitted) making it a diving-compatible machine.</image:caption>

<image:title>Gear I Use - Beach Metal Detecting Gear</image:title>
<image:caption>Detect-Ed Treasure Pouch 2.0 - I have been using Detect-Ed Treasure pouches since I first started metal detecting. I love their minimalistic design, mesh bases (so that excess sand, soil and water can sift away) and twin compartment setup that allows me to put my ‘good’ and delicate finds in the front pouch, sinkers and trash in the larger pocket. This 2.0 version also introduced a plastic carabiner inside the small pocket for securing rings. The zips are plastic and handle salt water conditions beautifully. (Looking to buy? Make sure you use my code DIRTFISHMISH for an extra 10% off the price!)</image:caption>

<image:title>Gear I Use - Beach Metal Detecting Gear</image:title>
<image:caption>SITO Scoop & Carbon Fibre Pole - This is both the scoop and handle that I use in my beach detecting videos, the online store is based in Australia. The mixed-hole design of this scoop helps to reduce the loss of fine jewellery items through the holes, it is excellent for sifting while submerged in water and is stronger than a standard hole design. If you are just planning to detect on dry sand, then consider a larger-hole version for better sifting.</image:caption>

<image:title>Gear I Use - Beach Metal Detecting Gear</image:title>
<image:caption>Trshbg Hip Bag - Designed for divers and made from predominantly recycled materials such as bicycle tubes and banner signage, this bag is an absolute delight to use in areas where I expect to find an excessive amount of trash both above and below the water. It is expandable to hold up to 4L (1 gallon) of trash – put the trash in through a one-way pocket, and dispose of it using a zipper on the side of the bag. The small team behind Trshbg in Indonesia is an absolute pleasure to deal with too.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Beach Soul Beach Shower - a portable beach shower available in both 5L and 8L sizes. I use the smaller 5L unit for rinsing off my gear at the end of a beach or dirt detecting session, no more muck coming home and a significantly reduced chance of corrosion damage to my gear caused by salt residue. It's also great as a backup water source in my vehicle in case of an emergency.</image:caption>

<image:caption>XP MI-6 Pinpointer - The MI-6 has proven to be a very effective pinpointer that has also stood the test of time in many environments. It is much more compact than the PulseDive making it suitable for smaller carry pouches and holsters, but it is still waterproof to 6M/20ft. Please note: The MI-6 model has extra features that integrate with some XP metal detectors including the Deus II – if your machine is not an XP, then the MI-4 pinpointer will give you the same results but at a slightly cheaper price.</image:caption>

I use the Digger XL whenever I'm detecting out in the bush or fields, and the coin popper (or the hook-less equivalent which is known as the Groundhog) for shallow extractions in sensitive areas, as well as for difficult retrievals in rocky terrain. These tools are hand-made in Australia and I cannot recommend them highly enough.</image:caption>

I have also used Tyger's other hand digging tool, the Tyger Cub which is shorter and more trowel-like in shape. They're also awesome garden tools between detecting sessions! <image:caption>Sony ZV-1 II Vlogging Camera - I have the original ZV-1, which has now been superceded by this ZV-1 Mark II. It's a brilliant vlogging camera, but important to note that it is not waterproof, I generally use it on dry land adventures only. It has some excellent features including background defocus, face tracking and a built-in ND filter. If you've ever thought one of my videos looked particularly crisp - it was probably this camera at work!</image:caption>

<image:caption>SmallRig grip for Sony ZV-1 camera - makes the camera a little easier to hold, I also connect my tripod mounting accessories to this frame and it has an extra cold shoe mount that could be used for a light or mic.</image:caption>

<image:caption>SanDisk Extreme SD card - for my Sony ZV-1 camera. As per the GoPro memory cards, make sure you get a good enough quality card so that it can read and write at a fast enough speed for your footage. This card supports 4K filming on my camera.</image:caption>

<image:caption>RODE VideoMic GO II - I use this 'shotgun' style mic on my Sony ZV-1 camera. Good if you're always facing in front of the camera and don't want to clip a mic to yourself, however the small wireless mics above will work much better in a windy scenario.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Joby GorillaPod 3K Pro Kit - the tripod I use for my Sony camera. Flexible, so you can stand it up on uneven surfaces and keep your camera out of the dust and dirt, but also for really good shots angled down towards a dig site.</image:caption>
